UFC featherweight Leonard ‘Bad Boy’ Garcia (15-9-1) has a new opponent for this months upcoming UFC 155 event in Hawaiian fighter Max ‘Blessed’ Holloway (6-1).
Garcia had been scheduled to face Cody McKenzie at the end month show but an injury forced the ‘AK Kid’ off the Vegas card.
The official announcement was made earlier today at UFC.com.
Plus, with Cody McKenzie injured, Leonard Garcia gets a new opponent in Max Holloway. Garcia is known for his all-out offensive striking style as is Holloway which should make for a promising stand-up battle between a longtime veteran and a rising star in the featherweight division. Verbal agreements are in for that bout as well.
UFC 155: Dos Santos vs. Velasquez II is scheduled to take place on December 29, 2012 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Garcia has lost three straight matches and will likely need a win if he wants to keep his job with the UFC. ‘Bad Boy’ lost a decision to Matt Grice in June at UFC on FX 3 and a decision to Nam Phan in their rematch at UFC 136 in October 2011. The third loss was another rematch, a submission defeat against Chan Sung Jung at UFN 24. His last win was against Phan at the TUF 12 Finale by split decision.
Holloway is 2-1 in the Octagon having won two in a row. His last victory went down last August with a second round TKO finish of Justin Lawrence at UFC 150 in Colorado. The other victory came in June at the TUF 15 Finale with a decision over Pat Schilling. ‘Blessed’ debuted at UFC 143 in February, suffering a first round submission loss to Dustin Poirier.
