Roberts has been forced to withdraw from the Chicago event due to illness and injury. This turn of events now leaves Roberts opponent Michael Kuiper (12-1) without a fight for the television event.

News of his withdrawal comes via MMAjunkie.com who learned of the update from someone close to the fighter.

No update has been announced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship at time of writing.

UFC on FOX: Johnson vs. Dodson is scheduled for January 26, 2013 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. The bout between Roberts and Kuiper was to air on the FX broadcasted prelim card.

Roberts is 1-1 in the UFC having suffered a second round TKO loss in his middleweight debut at UFC 150 against Yushin Okami this past August. Roberts had been scheduled to meet Chris Camozzi at the event, but Camozzi pulled out with an injury and Okami’s opponent Rousimar Palhares did as well. The UFC put the two together for the Colorado show. Roberts won his Octagon debut earlier this summer in June by winning a decision over Caio Magalhaes at UFC on FX 3.

Kuiper holds the same record of 1-1 in the Octagon, appearing at the same UFC 150 event picking up a second round TKO win against Jared Hamman. Kuiper debuted inside the Octagon in February at UFC 143, losing by decision to Rafael Natal. That loss ended the Dutch fighters undefeated run which included eleven straight wins.
