A previously scheduled Strikeforce welterweight match will take place inside the Octagon when ‘The Rock-n-Rolla’ Nah-Shon Burrell (8-2) takes on Yuri Villefort (6-1) later this month at the upcoming UFC 157: Rousey vs. Carmouche event.
The bout is being reported by MMAjunkie.com after UFC officials announced the match (at time of writing have not located announcement).
The Burrell vs. Villefort bout is a late addition to the pay-per-view card after a featherweight bout between Chad Mendes and Manvel Gamburyan was pulled from the card. A middleweight bout between Court McGee and Josh Neer is being bumped up to the main card from the prelims.
UFC 157: Rousey vs. Carmouche is scheduled to take place later this month on February 23, 2013 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The Burell vs. Villefort bout is expected to appear on the Facebook prelim card.
The two fighters had been scheduled to meet last September at the Melendez vs. Healy event until the show was cancelled after an injury to lightweight title holder Gilbert Melendez.
Burrell is 1-6 over his last seven bouts, having lost by first round TKO to Chris Spang last May at the Barnett vs. Cormier event. Burrell had three wins in the Strikeforce cage previously, defeating James Tery, Lukasz Les and Joe Ray.
Villefort saw his undefeated streak end at six wins after debuting at the same May Strikeforce show, losing a split decision to Quinn Mulhern. The Florida fighter had earned five finishes (2 via T/KO and three by submission) between 2009 and 2010.
