Watch the UFC 268 press conference faceoffs.

We are just two days away from UFC 268 in New York, which will be the promotion’s first show at Madison Square Garden since 2019. In the main event, reigning welterweight champion Kamaru Usman takes on rival Colby Covington in a rematch of their UFC 245 thriller, which Usman won by TKO. The other title fight rematch is in the co-main event, as Rose Namajunas looks to make it 2-for-2 against Zhang Weili and remain the women’s strawweight champion.

Opening the main card is a highly anticipated lightweight clash between Justin Gaethje and Michael Chandler. I don’t think this one will go the full 15 minutes.

Before they go inside the Octagon and before they even weigh-in on Friday, there’s the matter of the pre-fight press conference. As expected, the main event fighters engaged in a level of trash talk that was exactly that… trash. Things then got physical in the staredowns, with Usman shoving Covington, something that has definitely never happened before in the history of combat sports press conferences.

Anyway, watch the faceoffs at the top of the page courtesy of MMA Fighting. You’ll get Usman-Covington 2, Namajunas-Zhang 2, and Gaethje-Chandler.

EXCLUSIVE | Chris Daukaus Willing To Serve As Backup For UFC 270

Chris Daukaus may be getting ready to take on his first UFC main event against Derrick Lewis next month, but he’s already thinking about what’s ahead and is willing to be the UFC 270 backup.

Daukaus is scheduled to face Lewis in a five-round UFC Fight Night main event on Dec. 18, in a massive fight for the heavyweight division. But, he’s ready and willing to make a quick turnaround and serve as the backup for UFC 270’s heavyweight title bout between Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane.

It’s becoming more common for UFC fighters to volunteer to be backup fighters for main events, even though it’s seldomly been used for big pay-per-view cards. Although he has to get past a tough test in Lewis, Daukaus is willing to take the next step necessary to ingratiate himself into the title conversation.

During a recent interview with LowKickMMA’s James Lynch, expressed his interest in being the backup to Gane vs. Ngannou.

“I have nothing going on in January,” Daukaus said. “You call me and get me a flight out to Las Vegas, and I’ll be able to weigh in just in case.”

The heavyweight title picture has been a bit confusing this year after Ngannou won the belt over Stipe Miocic in March before an interim title bout was scheduled promptly afterward. Lewis would go on to lose the interim title to Gane and set up a matchup between him and Daukaus.

Daukaus has won five in a row and is undefeated during his short tenure in the UFC. Before signing with the promotion, he enjoyed a variety of success in regional promotions such as Cage Fury and Ring of Combat.

If UFC president Dana White needs someone if the UFC 270 card needs saving, Daukaus sounds ready to step in right away.

What do you think Chris Daukaus’ ceiling is in the UFC’s heavyweight division?

Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington squared off for the first time ahead of their eagerly anticipated rematch at UFC 268.

The welterweight duo first fought back in 2019 in what is widely regarded as one of the best 170lb fights of all time. Usman and Covington went back and forth for almost five full rounds, but it was the current champ who walked away with a late TKO win.

On Thursday, ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ and ‘Chaos’ traded barbs throughout the UFC 268 pre-fight press conference before they faced off at the end.

The two men exchanged words before Usman pushed his rival. Dana White jumped in to stop the situation from escalating – check exactly what happened below.

Who do you think will take the UFC 268 main event? Kamaru Usman or Colby Covington?

The UFC 268 staredown got physical when Kamaru Usman pushed opponent Colby Covington during their face off,

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President, Dana White, had a scare after Welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman, shoved Colby Covington at the UFC 268 pre-fight press conference staredown this evening (watch full video replay here).

The promotion event, which took place inside Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York, N.Y., precedes UFC 268: “Usman vs. Covington 2,” which will go down inside the historic venue this weekend (Sat., Nov. 6, 2021), streaming online via ESPN+ pay-per-view (PPV).

Usman was respectful early into the press conference; however, Covington immediately took shots at Usman’s family — particularly his father’s served prison time.

White stood between Usman and Covington when they faced off at the conclusion of the event, but “Nigerian Nightmare” proceeded to aggressively shove “Chaos.” The UFC boss elected a yelp in response.

It could have been worseway, way worse.
