Tweet of the Day: Benson Henderson in Bellator gloves

Time to start getting used to seeing former UFC champ Ben Henderson in Bellator gear.

Ben Henderson tested the free agent market, and recently managed to get a lucrative deal with Bellator. Promotional material are starting to be churned out, and I have to say, I’m still not quite used to seeing the former UFC lightweight champ in a different brand of gloves.

Here’s Henderson posing in his brand new Bellator gear:

Benson won his last two UFC bouts at welterweight, and will be staying in that division when he makes his Bellator debut. This April, he will look to take Andrey Koreshkov’s belt as he gets an immediate title shot at 170 lbs.

“Coming over from the UFC with what I’ve accomplished, yes, we knew we would have a title shot in whichever weight class we decided,” Henderson said about the move to Bellator. “It’s exciting for me. No more rematches, all new opponents to prove myself against.”

White: I don’t see how Conor McGregor wins this fight against Dos Anjos

Dana White says he doesn’t see how Conor McGregor beats the dominant UFC lightweight champion in Rafael dos Anjos.

Dana White recently spoke about the upcoming UFC 196 main event bout between Conor McGregor and Rafael dos Anjos, saying the odds are heavily against the featherweight champion.

“I don’t see how he wins this fight,” White told At The Buzzer. “He’s the 145-pound champion. He can stay in his own lane.”

“This guy is moving up to 155 to take on an animal, who destroyed Cowboy Cerrone, destroyed Anthony Pettis. And this isn’t boxing, where you move up two or three pounds. You move up 15 pounds!”

It’s worth pointing out that Dana seems to have exaggerated or botched his math, as it’s actually just a 10-pound jump to lightweight. There also aren’t really any boxing weight classes separated by 2 lbs, and someone close to McGregor’s size (147 lbs) would have to move up 7 lbs to compete in the next division.

Now that we’ve gone past that, it is also interesting that ‘I don’t see how Conor wins’ is the angle he takes to selling the fight between the two dominant champions. There’s an obvious avenue to victory for McGregor on the feet, but it could be a good move to keep praising the lightweight champ, who is still more of an unknown commodity for most casual fans.

The two champions will face off on March 5th, and if you also don’t think Conor has much of a chance, you should probably take advantage of the current betting lines. Oddsmakers have McGregor as a slight favorite (-125) over Dos Anjos (+125).

There’s a new trailer and adjusted poster for the Conor McGregor vs Rafael dos Anjos super-fight at UFC 196, but despite his earlier protests, there’s still no belt to be seen for the Notorious one.

During the first pre-fight press conference for the title fight between Conor McGregor and Rafael dos Anjos, the featherweight champion expressed his displeasure with how this champion vs champion bout was being promoted.

Unlike with how the UFC promoted the super-fight between Georges St-Pierre and B.J. Penn in the past, it was only Dos Anjos who had a belt on his table and on the posters, which led to McGregor calling it all “absolute garbage“.

With the rash of injuries forcing a cancelled pay-per-view in February, officials have decided to rename this March event from UFC 197 to UFC 196. They have since released revised promotional material with the change, and you can watch a brand new trailer above that also shows the updated poster for the event.

Unfortunately for the Irishman, his belt is still nowhere to be found.

The pair will face off as part of a stacked event on March 5th. Co-headlining the card is a title bout between Holly Holm and Miesha Tate.

Dave Bautista: Buying Reebok endorses UFC fighters getting screwed

Tweets of the Day: Former WWE star and MMA fighter Dave Bautista says ‘f**k Reebok’

Dave Bautista was watching the UFC fights this weekend, and he couldn’t help but voice his displeasure with the UFC’s exclusive sponsorship deal with Reebok. The 47-year-old actor, who was a former WWE superstar and 1-0 MMA fighter, took to twitter about it:

Anyone who buys that goofy UFC @Reebok shit is endorsing the fighters getting fucked out of their sponsorships. Just a thought #fuckreebok

— Dave Bautista (@DaveBautista) January 31, 2016

He also responded to a couple of fans about the topic:

@DrSprigs actually it’s not.I’m watching the fights and I’m tired of seeing all these Reebok commercials, knowing the fighters got screwed.

— Dave Bautista (@DaveBautista) January 31, 2016

@brandoncooklin thank you! It’s not about the guys on top. It’s about the fighters who have to take side jobs just to feed their families.

— Dave Bautista (@DaveBautista) January 31, 2016

During that very event Bautista was watching on FOX, Barnett and Rothwell earned just $5000 each from Reebok to co-headline a show on free TV.

In 2012, ‘Batista’ tried his hand in MMA, winning a TKO over a veteran in Vince Lucero (video here). Since then, the Filipino-American has been successful as an actor, landing numerous high profile movie roles in Hollywood.
