Jon Jones has ‘maybe 3’ bouts left before he moves up to heavyweight

UFC star Jon Jones talks about his short stay left at light heavyweight.

Jon Jones was active once again on social media, answering several queries from fans, and one of the more interesting tidbits the former champ revealed is about his eventual move to heavyweight. When asked how long he’s staying in the division, he says it’s not very long.

The rematch between Jones and Daniel Cormier is expected to be announced this week. In a perfect world, Jones says the next three bouts for him are as follows:

No. DC, Rumble,Gus https://t.co/4x3jqQipv2

After Werdum and Velasquez both pulled out, Jones recently stated that he would’ve gone up to heavyweight and saved UFC 196, if the real title was on the line. That obviously didn’t pan out, but it does align with his past statements saying that he would be more than willing to fight the relatively smaller heavyweights out there “all day” including the reigning champ Fabricio Werdum.

Tarverdyan to seek advice from boxing coaches for Rousey vs Holm rematch

Edmond Tarverdyan has responded to criticisms stemming from Ronda Rousey’s loss to Holly Holm.

Edmond Tarverdyan has mostly kept silent since his star pupil, Ronda Rousey badly lost to Holly Holm. A lot of criticism stemming from the high profile match up was about his coaching, and the GFC head has since addressed these on an interview with ESPNW.

“It was the biggest loss of my career,” he said. “You know you won’t ever want that to happen again. So what that means is, I’ve got to work harder. Every little thing I’ve got to be honest with and make sure that we’re ready to go.

“Yeah there was a lot of criticism afterwards about adding a boxing coach. MMA is not a boxing game, but Ronda got caught, and we will be taking advice from boxing trainers. I don’t think it’s going to be a situation about adding a boxing coach, it’s about getting more thoughts from boxing trainers.”

“I will be speaking to them and getting in the best advice. And if I feel it’s necessary we will bring them in. But besides boxing, even the wrestling, the judo, the grappling aspect of it — just approaching the fight in general, there will be a bit of things that we could add.”

“We’re not going to sit here and change everything that we’ve done, we’ve done stuff that I think is working, it’s been great. We’re not going to have something so much different for Ronda. Have we been doing everything wrong? No, that’s not the situation. It’s a fight, Ronda got caught with a shot, and it was a little bit of a roller coaster from there.”

Tarverdyan also explained that Rousey won’t be able to compete by UFC 200 in July, and would need 4 months of training after filming the Road House movie.

Rousey’s coach also made headlines recently, after he was investigated after filing for bankruptcy, and his license got revoked in California, both stemming from “significant errors” made while filling up paperwork.

Tweet of the Day: Bisping makes Star Wars joke about Anderson Silva

Michael Bisping takes a dig at Anderson Silva, using a Star Wars reference.

Michael Bisping takes on Anderson Silva this February, and he has continued taking jabs at the former UFC champion for his failed drug tests. Silva was suspended for multiple anabolic steroids and anti-anxiety medication from his January 2015 bout against Nick Diaz, and Bisping has taken another jab at it on social media.

Never mind Steven seagal. I hear Anderson is training with Kylo Ren! “These are not the roids you are looking for…”

— michael (@bisping) January 26, 2016

Bisping also responded to people giving Silva’s old injury as an excuse:

@BraedenVA he could have had an exemption certificate if that was the case. So no.

— michael (@bisping) January 26, 2016

The Brit had also taken a shot at Silva’s “sexual enhancement” defense in the past, leading to Anderson once again denying any PED use.

Silva will add to the growing list of opponents Bisping has fought who were involved in either drug test controversies or the now banned testosterone replacement therapy.

Tweet of the Day: Cyborg pokes fun at Ronda Rousey’s SNL hosting

Cris Cyborg had a bit of a zinger about Ronda Rousey hosting SNL.

Ronda Rousey reached another milestone, becoming the first MMA fighter to host the popular show, Saturday Night Live. While some argue her actual performance wasn’t anything special, many have considered it a pretty solid hosting job for the former UFC champion.

Invicta champion Cris Cyborg took to social media about the hosting gig, poking fun at the expense of her long time rival.

Watching #SNL and it looks like @rondarousey still needs help on her standup

— Cris Cyborg (@criscyborg) January 24, 2016

While many MMA fans may go overboard at Cyborg still taking shots at Rousey, I have to admit, I thought it was a pretty funny diss at her.

Cyborg is coming off yet another knockout finish earlier in January. Since Rousey lost her title to Holm, Cris has ruled out trying to risk a tough cut down to 135 lbs. She weighed 163.8 lbs just 6 hours after making the featherweight limit, but has stated she would be open to a catchweight fight with Holly Holm.
