Fight Night 85 is headlined by a heavyweight tussle between former UFC champion Frank Mir and former No. 1 contender Mark Hunt. Mir has won just two of his last seven outings, while Hunt has posted a 3-3-1 record over that same stretch.

In the evening’s co-main event, Hector Lombard takes on Neil Magny. Lombard’s last fight, originally a win, was scored a no-contest when he failed his post-fight drug test. Magny enters having won nine of his last 10 outings.

The event is headlined by a grudge match between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz. McGregor, the current featherweight champion, will fight two weight divisions above the one he currently reigns over as he looks to push his unblemished UFC record to 8-0. Diaz, a short-notice replacement for Rafael dos Anjos, last competed at lightweight, and he carries a 5-3 record over the course of his last eight bouts.

In the co-main event of the evening, bantamweight champion Holly Holm defends her title against perennial challenger Miesha Tate. Holm captured the title last November, dethroning former champion Ronda Rousey with an iconic head-kick knockout. Tate has posted four straight wins since unsuccessfully challenging for the strap back in December 2013.

Originally supposed to be the latest in a growing contingent of high-profile Super Bowl Weekend fight cards, Fight Night 82 lost a fair bit of luster when its main event and then replacement main event were scuttled because of injuries. 

The event’s new headliner is a welterweight title eliminator between former champion Johny Hendricks and rising star Stephen Thompson. 

Upgraded in status, the heavyweight contest between Roy Nelson and Jared Rosholt now serves as the co-main attraction.
