Rising 18-year-old fighter Raul Rosas Jr. will be back in action when he takes on Christian Rodriguez at UFC 287 on April 8 at a location and venue yet to be determined. The booking was recently confirmed by MMA Fighting following an initial report from Eurosport.

Rosas Jr. made UFC history in his Octagon debut at UFC 282 this past December becoming the youngest fighter to ever compete for the promotion. Luckily, the Contender Series standout didn’t disappoint. Despite some pre-fight banter and a mountain of expectations put on his shoulders Rosas Jr. sliced through his opponent, Jay Perrin, like a knife through water. It wasn’t even close as Rosas Jr. utilized his strong grappling skills to submit Perrin via face crank just under three minutes into the first round.

In case you missed the historic finish check it out HERE.

Rosas Jr., who turned 18 this past October, is currently 7-0 in his professional career with five of those victories coming by way of submission. The promotion is likely to take things slow with the teenage fighter, but it’s good to see him making a quick turnaround from his debut just one month ago. The UFC’s 135-pound division in an absolute shark tank so Rosas Jr. will need all the experience he can muster in 2023.

Rodriguez, on the other hand, is a real solid prospect in his own right. The 25-year-old fighter lost a tough UFC debut to Jonathan Pearce back in Feb. 2022, but captured his first Octagon win with an anaconda choke submission finish over Joshua Weems this past October. If Rodriguez is able to upset Rosas Jr. it would do wonders for his own UFC stock and make him one of the top prospects to watch this year.

What say you, Maniacs? Is UFC setting Rosas Jr. up for a second-straight win?

Sound off!

Former NFL star Greg Hardy no longer has to worry about top heavyweights taking him down inside of the Octagon. Instead, “Prince of War” has traded in his mixed martial arts (MMA) gloves for bare-knuckle boxing with his debut now set for BKFC KnuckleMania 3. The booking was confirmed by MMA Fighting on Thursday after an initial report by MyMMANews.

Hardy, who parted ways with Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) back in Mar. 2022 after posting a 4-5 (1 NC) record, signed with Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) this past summer. Hardy did make a quick stop inside of the professional boxing ring to claim a vicious knockout victory this past October, but he will make his first official bare-knuckle boxing appearance next month.

The former UFC heavyweight will be matched up against Josh Watson at BKFC KnuckleMania 3 on Feb. 17 from inside Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The heavyweight clash is expected to be featured on the main card. Watson isn’t anything to write home about, but he is a seasoned combat veteran who currently boasts a 1-1 record inside of the BKFC ring.

Hardy, 34, should do well as a bare-knuckle boxer. The former MMA fighter was well-known for his punching power which led to three equally-impressive knockout finishes inside of the Octagon. The fact that Hardy doesn’t have to worry about a ground game, lengthy clinches, or three five-minute rounds should bode well for “Prince of War” moving forward.

BKFC KnuckleMania 3 will also feature the bare-knuckle boxing debuts of former UFC veterans Diego Sanchez and John Dodson. It is expected to be the promotion’s biggest card of the year.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) release of heavyweight titleholder Francis Ngannou last weekend sent shockwaves through the combat community. Many were hoping Ngannou and the promotion could come to terms on a new contract and lock in his superfight with Jon Jones, but that simply didn’t happen.

Following the release of Ngannou, the promotion announced a heavyweight title fight between Jones and Ciryl Gane, which will go down at UFC 285 this March in Las Vegas for the undisputed heavyweight strap. It’s a great consolation prize, but certainly not the matchup fight fans were hoping for.

UFC’s color commentator, Joe Rogan, is one of many who are disappointed to see Ngannou exit the promotion. Not only for a potential clash with “Bones,” but also because Ngannou has proven to be the baddest man on the planet over the past few years.

“I’m so bummed out, man,” Rogan said on a recent episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience.” “I do not like this whole thing. I do not like this at all. I do not like when a champion leaves. I do not like having the best guy in the world not being the champion. I do not like the best guy in the world not fighting for the title against Jon.

“If Francis wanted to resign and he wanted to say, ‘I’m done, I had a great career, I made some money and I’m going to relax,’ OK. Congratulations, sir. You had a great career. But to not make it through negotiations, I don’t know what the deal is. I suspect some of it involved him wanting to be able to box as well, because there very well may be a pot of gold at the end of that rainbow.”

Few people blame Ngannou for doing what he did because the UFC heavyweight champion of the world should be paid handsomely and receive some concessions from the promotion. But even though Ngannou was at limited fault for how his UFC contract negotiations ended it doesn’t take away from the fact that the MMA world will now miss the chance to see “Predator” vs. Jones.

“I’m mad because I feel like we were deprived of one of the great fights in MMA – one of the most compelling fights in MMA,” Rogan said. “Doesn’t mean I’m not interested in Ciryl Gane and Jon Jones. I’m very interested in that fight.

“… For Jon, it’s going to be, can Jon take him (Gane) down. How does Jon perform at heavyweight? Can Jon close the distance? Is he as fast? What is the three years off like? Is he hungrier and even better because he’s fired up? Like, ‘Y’all must have forgot,’ he’s got that mindset?”

Video! Paul Trades Boxing Gloves In For BJJ Training

Now that Jake Paul is plotting an official crossover into mixed martial arts (MMA) the YouTube sensation and professional boxer is doing everything he can to prepare. This includes his first-ever training session for jiu-jitsu.

Now that Jake Paul is plotting an official crossover into mixed martial arts (MMA) the YouTube sensation and professional boxer is doing everything he can to prepare. This includes his first-ever training session for jiu-jitsu.

Paul, who will return to the boxing ring later this year before making his official MMA debut as a member of the PFL roster, has a background in wrestling. Actually, he was quite good in high school. So was his brother, Logan. However, Paul has never rolled on the mat to learned the ins and outs of grappling. It’s going to take the social media influencer some time to adjust, but the wheels are already in motion.

On Friday, Paul posted a few images and a video to Instagram showcasing his first day training jiu-jitsu. Check it out at the top of the page.

“First day of Jiu Jitsu,” wrote Paul.

Just over one year ago Paul took to social media to show off his kicking skills as a teaser for a potential MMA crossover. Now that things are official and “Problem Child” will in fact compete under the PFL banner in 2023 things are becoming a little more serious.

It’s unknown at this time who PFL has in mind for Paul’s MMA debut, but it’s unlikely to be anybody with serious skill or a fighter who’s going to take him down. More likely than not, Paul will encounter a MMA striker and be able to lean on his developing boxing skills.

What say you, Maniacs? How is Paul looking as his MMA training ramps up?

Let’s hear it!
