Jessica Andrade scored the first-ever standing arm-triangle finish in UFC history when she stopped Amanda Lemos earlier tonight (Sat., April 23, 2022) at UFC Vegas 52 live on ESPN+ from inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada,

Lemos looked sharp on the feet in the early going but once the action hit close quarters Andrade showed her strength. During an early exchange in the first round Andrade was able to grab a hold of a standing arm-triangle choke. Lemos didn’t panic right away, but Andrade slowly re-worked her grip to squeeze tighter and tighter. It was only a matter of time before the former UFC women’s strawweight champion finished her efforts and forced the stoppage.

Check out the full fight video highlights below courtesy of UFC/ESPN:

Andrade, 30, is coming off a first-round TKO finish over Cynthia Calvillo so this win raises her current UFC stock even more. This may have been her return to the UFC’s strawweight division, but another win or two like this one and Andrade could find herself fighting for a UFC title yet again.

Claudio Puelles captured his third career kneebar finish earlier tonight (Sat., April 23, 2022) at UFC Vegas 52 live on ESPN+ from inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, when the lightweight prospect stopped veteran Clay Guida with a brilliant first-round submission.

Guida was able to win some of the exchanges early, but once the action his the mat he put himself in the crosshairs of Puelles. The Peruvian fighter snatched up one of Guida’s arms and threatened to twist it off. Guida was savvy in his defense, but towards the end of the first Puelles flipped Guida to the side and quickly grabbed a hold of his legs. Puelles cranked and Guida had nothing left to do but tap.

Check out the finishing sequence above courtesy of UFC/ESPN.

Puelles has pulled off two kneebar finishes in his last four Octagon appearances so you knew he was capable of finishing the fight in this fashion, but this is becoming ridiculous. It’s rare that we see a kneebar stoppage, let alone from the same fighter three times out of his last five UFC fights.

Fight fans witnessed a combat rarity earlier tonight (Sat., April 23, 2022) at UFC Vegas 52 live on ESPN+ from inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, when Lando Vannata lost his pants during a first-round submission loss to featherweight contender Charles Jourdain.

Vannata was dropping down from lightweight and looked strong in the early going. He landed a nice takedown and scored some top time on Jourdain. That was until “Air” caught Vannata in a one-handed guillotine off his back. Once he locked up his legs the pants came off and “Groovy” was left to tap.

Jourdain, 26, has now won two in a row after capturing a unanimous decision over Andre Ewell back in December. The Canadian fighter is more known for his flashy striking and knockout ability, but “Air” has some pretty sneaky submission skills as well. This main card win should land him a shot at the top 15 next time around.

Marc-Andre Barriault scored his first career submission victory earlier tonight (Sat., April 23, 2022) at UFC Vegas 52 live on ESPN+ from inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, when “Power Bar” stopped middleweight prospect Jordan Wright with a first-round guillotine choke.

Wright still pushed through to score the takedown, but Barriault was able to turn over and finish the submission.

Barriault, who is completely known for his striking, looked confident in his guillotine finish. It was good to see considering “Power Bar” was coming off a 17-second knockout loss to Chidi Njokuani this past February. Barriault is now 3-1 in his last four Octagon appearances and should be able to use this win to land a notable opponent his next time out.
