Andre Fialho scored the biggest victory of his career earlier tonight (Sat., April 16, 2022) at UFC Vegas 51 live on ESPN/ESPN+ from inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, when the welterweight upstart captured a first-round TKO finish over Miguel Baeza.

Both welterweights landed good shots early, but it was Baeza who was able to mix it with more offense. Towards the end of the first round Fialho was able to land a really strong uppercut in the clinch that stunned Baeza. Fialho followed it up with looping a left hook that sent Baeza to the canvas and allowed Fialho to landed a few hard shots to finish the fight.

Fialho, 28, was given a tough task in his short-notice UFC debut and ended up losing to welterweight contender Michel Pereira. This was a better test to see how the prospect did under normal circumstances and he passed with flying colors. It will be interesting to see how his striking holds up against stiffer competition in the UFC’s jam-packed welterweight division.

Devin Clark captured victory in his heavyweight debut earlier tonight (Sat., April 16, 2022) at UFC Vegas 51 live on ESPN/ESPN+ from inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, when “Brown Bear” finished William Knight with an impressive third-round TKO (elbow and punches).

This was a pretty competitive affair before Clark found a way to land crisp punches on the feet and transition to takedowns. He was able to sap Knight’s energy and limit his output almost completely. In the third, Clark had Knight trapped along the cage and landed a sharp elbow followed by a left hand that hurt him bad. Knight tried to recover, but Clark launched one final right hand that put “Knightmare” down for good.

Clark, who was coming off back-to-back losses to Anthony Smith and Ion Cutelaba at light heavyweight, needed this win pretty badly. It’s unknown at this time if Clark with continue to fight at heavyweight, but he proved his worth in this outing against a powerhouse like Knight.

Drakkar Klose returned after a two-year absence earlier tonight (Sat., April 16, 2022) at UFC Vegas 51 live on ESPN/ESPN+ from inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, to stop MMA journeyman Brandon Jenkins with a nasty second-round TKO (punches).

It’s been a while since we saw Klose compete inside of the Octagon, but it didn’t look like the 34-year-old veteran missed a beat. He was able to deliver vicious uppercuts and right hands at will as Jenkins somehow absorbed the punishment to stay in the fight. Klose kept the pressure up in the second and was able to badly hurt Jenkins along the cage with more uppercuts and power rights. The finish was inevitable.

Check out the final sequence above courtesy of UFC/ESPN.

Klose, who has been sidelined for two years mostly due in part to Jeremy Stephens’ infamous weigh-ins push, seemed like a man on mission tonight at UFC Vegas 51. He called out fellow lightweight contender Mark Madsen after the win and that seems like a matchup worth making.

Rafa Garcia earned a big submission finish earlier tonight (Sat., April 16, 2022) at UFC Vegas 51 live on ESPN/ESPN+ from inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, when the former Combate Americas champion stopped veteran lightweight Jesse Ronson with a second-round rear-naked choke.

Garcia was in control from the opening bell with consistent movement, takedown attempts, and good headwork to avoid any serious danger. Ronson was advancing quite a bit and kept busy inside the pocket, but he was a little too robotic. Garcia had a point deducted in the second round for an illegal knee, but the action continued and he was able to take Ronson back down to score the submission stoppage.

Check out the finishing sequence above courtesy of UFC/ESPN.

Garcia, who started his UFC career with a 0-2 record, has now won his last two trips to the Octagon. The 27-year-old fighter packs some real potential at 155 pounds so it’s nice to see him find some sustained success inside of the cage. Look for Garcia to score a more prolific opponent his next time out.

It took Heili Alateng only 47 seconds to stop Kevin Croom earlier tonight (Sat., April 16, 2022) at UFC Vegas 51 live on ESPN/ESPN+ from inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, when “The Mongolian Knight” scored a vicious first-round TKO (punches).

Croom had cut down to bantamweight for this fight and it instantly showed. The veteran fighter looked depleted and was wobbly after the first punch from Alateng connected. Alateng saw his window of opportunity and rushed in for a barrage of punches along the cage. Croom eventually face planted on the canvas and the referee stepped in for the stoppage.

Check out the finishing sequence above courtesy of UFC/ESPN.

Alateng, 30, gets back into the UFC win column with this performance after fighting Gustavo Lopez to a draw in his last appearance and dropping a decision to Casey Kenney before that. This is his first finish inside of the Octagon, but something that could give Alateng enough momentum to start his push towards the top 15.
