Charles Oliveira pushed his impressive win streak to 10 last night (Sat., Dec. 11, 2021) at UFC 269 live on ESPN+ PPV from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, when “Do Bronx” successfully defended his UFC lightweight title with a third-round submission finish over battled-tested contender Dustin Poirier.

Poirier showed his power early and briefly hurt Oliveira, but the champ responded with multiple knees inside and crisp combinations. “Diamond” came back with a big counter and planted Oliveira on his back. The champ recovered and returned fire with his own shots. Oliveira was able to gain top control in the second round and landed brutal elbows on Poirier, who did little to stand up. It was complete domination from Oliveira as he regained full momentum entering the third.

The third round saw Oliveira quickly take Poirier’s back along the cage. Oliveira was slick and perfectly-timed his approach to the standing rear-naked choke. Poirier did fairly well to fight the hands, but he was going up against a fighter with the most submission finishes in UFC history. It was only a matter of time before Oliveira found the right position and ended the fight.

Pena, who was just 2-2 in her last four trips to the Octagon, came into the fight a +800 underdog. The odds were stacked against her to say the least, but “The Venezuelan Vixen” proved how tough she truly is and went right at the champion with everything she had. After landing big punches on the feet Pena finished her efforts on the ground in the second round with a rear-naked choke. It was incredible to watch and easily one of the biggest upsets ever.

Of course, the MMA community was on high alert and went into a craze on social media. Check out some of the reaction to Pena’s massive submission finish below:

Julianna Pena pulled off one of the biggest upsets in MMA history last night (Sat., Dec. 11, 2021) at UFC 269 live on ESPN+ PPV from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, when “The Venezuelan Vixen” ended UFC women’s bantamweight champion and pound-for-pound legend Amanda Nunes via second-round submission (rear-naked choke).

The fight went to the ground in the early going and Nunes had her way with the Pena. She didn’t land too many shots, but “Lioness” was proving her grappling was just as good as her striking. Pena did threaten with a kimura although it didn’t last long.

The second round was one one of the greatest performances in MMA history as Pena willingly entered the pocket and went punch-for-punch with the champ. Nunes landed her patented shots, but Pena walked threw them to land a barrage of her own punches. “Lioness” was hurt and Pena took advantage by dragging her to the ground. Pena didn’t even have her hooks in when she applied the rear-naked choke and made Nunes tap.

Bruno Silva captured his third-straight knockout win as a member of the UFC’s middleweight division earlier tonight (Sat., Dec. 11, 2021) at UFC 269 live on ESPN+ PPV from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, when the Brazilian finisher stopped a very game Jordan Wright with a first-round TKO (punches).

Wright landed some good shots early as he utilized kicks and combinations to back Silva up. Wright took too much time in the clinch trying to land knees and it allowed Silva to time brutal counter punches. They badly hurt Wright and eventually put him down. Wright tried to keep moving and defend, but Silva was relentless and finished the job.
