Usman, Covington Deliver Final Trash Talk Before UFC 268

Kamaru Usman will try to accomplish two feats this evening (Sat., Nov. 6, 2021) at UFC 268 live on ESPN+ PPV from inside Madison Square Garden in New York City. He must defeat Colby Covington to retain his UFC welterweight title and he must do it in a fashion that will finally shut “Chaos” up.

Usman, who is approaching legendary status as a UFC champion, is trying to push his Octagon record to 15-0 with a win over Covington. He will also be looking to defend his 170-pound title for the fifth-straight time. All he has to do is keep his emotions in check and let his skills take over, which is exactly what happened when he defeated Covington the first time around back in 2019.

While Usman is one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world today he isn’t immune to a little mental warfare. That’s exactly what Covington has been trying to implement before, during, and after the first fight as well as every waking second leading up to the rematch. It will be interesting to see if “Nigerian Nightmare” can keep it bottled up during the fight and do what he does best.

Luckily, Usman was given one final chance to send a message to Covington ahead of their grudge match at UFC 268. He also offered a prediction for the main event fight.

“I just want to say I’m blessed to be in this position, to be able to deliver another performance like we did the first time,” said Usman during UFC 268’s ceremonial weigh ins on Friday (replay HERE). “If he did his homework, it’s going to be an amazing fight.

“But if he didn’t, I’m going to put his b*tch ass away early.”

Covington, who is confident that a change in teams will be enough to hand Usman his first UFC loss, was also asked about the fight during Friday’s weigh ins. The man known as “Chaos” promised to beat the brakes off the champion and fly back home with the belt. Typical banter from one of the promotion’s most outspoken fighters.

“Tomorrow night, live on pay-per-view, I’m going to beat the brakes off Marty, I’m going to become undisputed champion,” said Covington.

“I’m jumping on the Bang jet back to Miami as the pound-for-pound best fighter to ever do it, daddy.”

What say you, Maniacs? After seeing the first fight and all the back-and-forth that’s ensued, who will win the rematch later tonight at UFC 268?

Canelo Alvarez will settle his beef with Caleb Plant later this evening (Sat., Nov. 6, 2021) live on Showtime PPV and FITE TV from inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, as the two boxers battle it out in the main event for the WBA (Super), WBC, WBO, IBF and The Ring super middleweight titles. The winner will be crowned the first undisputed super middleweight champion in boxing history.

Alvarez, 31, is coming off a TKO finish over Billy Joe Saunders his last time out to secure his second-straight title defense in the super middleweight division and win the WBO belt. The pound-for-pound standout is hoping to clean out the weight class by knocking off Plant tonight in “Sin City” and adding another title to his collection. Alvarez has been smashing his opponents almost every time out and is currently a -900 favorite to defeat Plant. It would be quite shocking to see him falter in another high-profile spot.

Plant, 29, has successfully defended his IBF title three times since winning it back in 2019. The Tennessee native certainly has the odds stacked against him for his clash with Canelo, but Plant is a big body with a capable mean streak. He’ll also enjoy a four-inch reach advantage over Canelo as he tries to pull off one of the biggest upsets this year. It will be interesting to see if Plant can offer Canelo something different compared to his previous opponents.

A large majority of fight fans will be tuning in to see UFC 268 later tonight in New York City (live stream HERE), but there’s no reason why you can’t double dip on a stacked combat weekend. Take a look below at all the ways to catch the “Canelo vs. Plant” PPV card:

‘CEO Of EPO’ Joins USADA’s Ugly Jacket Club

Colby Covington’s clever “CEO of EPO” nickname for Kamaru Usman has been tossed out the window after the UFC welterweight champion received his jacket this week for 50 clean USADA tests.

Usman, who will defend his title in a rematch with “Chaos” later tonight (Sat., Nov. 6, 2021) at UFC 268 live on ESPN+ PPV from inside Madison Square Garden in New York City, has proven to be one of the most dominant fighters of the past five years. The champion has successfully defended his title four-straight times and most recently claimed the title for pound-for-pound best fighter in the sport.

However, great accomplishments usually produce even greater scrutiny and Usman has been held under the microscope by Covington over the past two years. Covington has claimed that Usman not only cheated and faked injuries in their first meeting back in 2019, but “Chaos” has gone out of his way to reference Usman as the “CEO of EPO,” suggesting the champ is taking performance-enhancing drugs.

While Usman is a physical specimen who looks bigger and stronger than anybody else at 170 pounds the champion has never been linked to PED use. In fact, Usman has now joined the likes of Daniel Cormier and Holly Holm as athletes who have turned in 50 clean tests under USADA’s watch. As we know, if you test clean on 50 USADA tests you’re in store for one of the ugliest jackets of all time. It’s a nice gesture, but UFC can probably do a little better with the gifting.

Usman, who is hoping to put a stamp on his rivalry with Covington at UFC 268, took to social media Friday night to show off his new USADA jacket and send a message to “Chaos.” Check it out below courtesy of Instagram:

Current UFC champion Rose Namajunas will try to fend off Zhang Weili in a women’s strawweight title fight later tonight (Sat., Nov. 6, 2021) at UFC 268 live on ESPN+ PPV from inside Madison Square Garden in New York City. It will be a rematch from their first meeting at UFC 261 back in April which saw “Thug” finish Weili via first-round head kick knockout to claim the belt.

Namajunas, who is enjoying her second stint as division champion, looked tremendous in her first fight with Weili. Of course, the fight didn’t go on for all that long and Weili is a fighter who usually takes control as the fight goes on. It will be interesting to see what “Rose” has up her sleeves if she’s unable to score the early finish and has to beat the former champion on the scorecards.

Weili, who saw her 21-fight win streak snapped at the hands of Namajunas, is hoping to reclaim her title and continue her reign as the only Chinese champion in UFC history. The 32-year-old fighter looked tremendous through her first five UFC fights, but it all fell apart against “Thug” earlier this year. The last time Weili came off a loss she won her next 21 fights. We’ll have to wait and see if UFC 268 is the start of another six-year unbeaten streak for “Magnum.”

Check out their fight video preview embedded above.
