Brandon Moreno captured the UFC flyweight championship last night (Sat., June 12, 2021) at UFC 263 live on ESPN+ PPV from inside Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona, when he finished titleholder Deiveson Figueiredo via third-round submission (rear-naked choke).

Moreno looked incredible to start the first as he landed combinations moving forward, leg kicks, and a jab that knocked the champion to the ground. Figueiredo had trouble landing his own punches as he tried to load up on everything.

Figueiredo scored a much needed takedown to begin the second and he was able to land a bunch of hard elbows to Moreno’s body. Moreno regrouped to gain top control and scored valuable points on the champ. In the third, Moreno scored a beautiful takedown and quickly worked his way to Figueiredo’s back. Figueiredo tried to defend Moreno’s advancements but Moreno eventually snuck his arm under the chin of the champion and squeezed his way to a UFC title.

Paul Craig delivered the goods earlier tonight (Sat., June 12, 2021) at UFC 263 live on ESPN+ PPV from inside Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona, when he snapped Jamahal Hill’s arm and scored an eventual first-round technical submission (armbar) finish.

Hill tried to use his length early to land some punches from distance but Craig was able to work his way inside. “Bearjew” opted to pull guard and work off his back. It was only a matter of time before he locked up an arm and extended for a nasty submission attempt. Hill didn’t tap and Craig ended up breaking his arm. That didn’t stop Hill, though, as the young contender kept fighting. Craig started peppering Hill with hard punches until the referee eventually stepped in.

After the fight, Hill was seen holding his broken arm heading into the back. Check out the highlights below courtesy of UFC/ESPN:

For Craig, this is a massive win on one of the biggest PPV cards of the year. The veteran light heavyweight is now 4-0-1 in his last five Octagon appearances and looks ready to test his luck against someone in the top 10.

UFC 263: Frevola v McKinney

Lightweight prospect Terrance McKinney cashed in on a huge short-notice Octagon debut earlier tonight (Sat., June 12, 2021) at UFC 263 live on ESPN+ PPV from inside Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona, when he stopped veteran Matt Frevola via knockout (punches) just seven seconds into the first round.

McKinney was filling in on a few days notice but he did compete little more than one week ago at LFA 109. It didn’t take McKinney long to find his range and land a beautiful combination that sent Frevola crashing to the canvas. McKinney followed up with a few insurance shots before the referee stepped in for the stoppage.

Check out the video highlights above courtesy of UFC/ESPN.

This is one of the best ways to make a UFC debut and McKinney did it against one of the tougher guys at 155 pounds. The young prospect did injure his knee in celebration after the quick stoppage so hopefully it’s not too serious and McKinney can book another Octagon appearance in 2021.
