Chris Weidman isn’t one to make excuses for himself inside the Octagon.
Weidman, a former UFC middleweight champion tried to keep from discussing the series of injuries he had entering UFC 194 in follow-up interviews. However, word eventually came out detailing a broken foot in two places that “The All-American” suffered weeks before he lost to Luke Rockhold.
Now, as Weidman (13-1) continues to push toward a rematch with Rockhold at UFC 199 later this year, he finds himself working just as hard to prove the naysayers wrong another time.
“I know what I’m capable of,” Weidman said, in a recent interview with MMAFighting.com. “I know my potential and I know I wasn’t close to it. The fact that because of what I’ve accomplished in the past gives me the opportunity to get a rematch is a great situation to be in. In most situations, people don’t get the second chance, especially right away. So, I’m very grateful for the opportunity I have. There’s no question in my mind that I’m gonna go out there and make a statement, completely dominate him and make sure everybody knows the last fight was a fluke.
“I knew what I was getting myself into, but I still thought I could go out there and beat (Rockhold). Even with that stuff. And he proved that I was wrong. He came out to fight. He was better than me that night.”
Weidman won the title when he finished Anderson Silva, defending it vs. Silva in a rematch and against former champions Lyoto Machida and Vitor Belfort before suffering his first career loss.

Ronda Rousey has one issue with the upcoming “UFC 2” video game that features her likeness on the cover.
Her own character.
During a recent interview with MMAjunkie.com, Rousey explained that she finds it difficult to play the game – which comes out this Tuesday – as herself. Rousey lost the UFC female bantamweight title to Holly Holm last November.
“It weirds me out to see myself and play as myself,” she said. “I’ve never played as myself.”
Rousey (12-1) is a huge video game junkie, but admits that pulling off special moves on the virtual field can be more confusing than the gym.
“I don’t like being not as in control of my body as I should be,” Rousey said. “I don’t know all the buttons to like counter a double (leg takedown) with a Harai goshi. I’d do it in real life, but it’d be really hard (in a game).”

Germany’s Nick Hein will square off with Guam’s Jon Tuck this May at UFC Fight Night 87, officials announced recently.
The card takes place from the Ahoy Rotterdam in Rotterdam, Netherlands on May 8. Alistair Overeem and Andrei Arlovski collide in the FOX Sports 1 main event.
Hein is 13-2 overall in his career and 3-1 inside the Octagon. Overall, he has put together a solid 8-1 run, but all three of his UFC wins have gone the distance.

Along with those two bouts, Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva meets Stefan Struve, Yan Cabral squares off with Reza Madadi and Gunnar Nelson faces Albert Tumenov.

Just about a month out from her fight with Rose Namajunas, and it would seem as if Tecia Torres is in the clear with the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency.
As the USADA and UFC continue to work to get banned substances out of MMA, testing remains a top priority.
Torres, who defeated Namajunas in their first meeting, has been tested twice in under four weeks, according to a post she made on Instagram Friday. The two strawweight contenders meet at UFC on FOX 19 from Tampa, Florida on April 16.
