UFC lightweight Ross Pearson walked away on Saturday night with a win over Strikeforce veteran Ryan Couture at UFC on FUEL TV 9 at the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden. But when he walked, he did so with a limp.

After stopping Couture at 3:45 of the second round with strikes, Pearson revealed in the post-fight interview during the FUEL broadcast with UFC commentator Kenny Florian that he believed his foot was broken. Yet, it wasn’t the bout with Couture that caused it, although it may have exacerbated the injury.

According to Pearson, when he was warming up backstage for his bout, he was kicking Thai pads with Alliance trainer Eric del Fierro. Pearson over extended on a kick and his fought made contact with del Fierro’s elbow. The team tried what they could to ice the injury prior to the bout, but they assumed it was broken.

Pearson, however, tweeted Sunday his foot is not broken after being examined by a doctor. “Thank U everyone for support! Docs said not broken! Crazy night,” he wrote.

Pearson is 8-3 in the UFC and 2-0 since moving back to lightweight from featherweight in December of 2012. He holds a professional MMA record of 15-6.
