Will Brooks, Patricio Freire clash on Twitter: ‘I’m going to slap you in your f**king mouth’

Patricio “Pitbull” Freire nabbed top billing for Bellator 145’s double-championship tentpole event, and he already made sure fellow Bellator champ Will Brooks heard about it.

Freire is slated to defend his featherweight strap in a trilogy fight against Daniel Straus in Bellator 145’s headlining fight, while Brooks will look to do the same against Marcin Held in the evening’s lightweight co-main event.

On Friday, some innocuous trash talk between the two Bellator champions quickly devolved into a lengthy and heated back-and-forth, with Brooks vowing to slap Freire in his “f**king mouth” when the two see each other on Nov. 6 in St. Louis. The entire exchange can be seen below.

From what I’m reading from @MMAFighting and @arielhelwani tweets it sounds like Silva is ruining himself instead of just confessing

Moral of the story: Never take a “man stuff” supplement recommended by a dude you trained with a couple times in Thailand or Brazil.

With UFC heavyweight Travis Browne still under investigation stemming from allegations of domestic abuse, he will remain sidelined from competition.
UFC Tonight reported on Wednesday that the UFC will keep Browne out of action, pending the outcome of the investigation. In July, Browne’s wife and fitness model Renee Webb posted pictures to her Instagram account of bruises on her arms and face, later citing Browne as the the culprit.
Webb wrote under the photo showing the abuse: “Probably one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made was walking away from this life and starting over. I’m still ashamed for staying as long as I did. #domesticviolenceawareness.”
When the news came out of the allegations, the UFC promptly removed Browne from all of his scheduled International Fight Week appearances in early July.
The UFC released a statement at the time, that read as follows:
“UFC is aware of the social media allegations made against Travis Browne. The organization requires all athletes to act in an ethical and responsible manner, as mandated by the UFC Fighter Conduct Policy. UFC will not tolerate domestic violence or any other violation of the policy. Every athletes is deserving of due process and this situation, as with any allegations, will be duly reviewed and thoroughly investigated by an independent party. In light of the news, Travis will not be participating in this week’s UFC International Fight Week activities.
“The prevention of domestic violence and the education of the athletes is of the utmost importance to the organization. UFC holds its athletes to the highest standard and will continue to take appropriate action if and when warranted.”

The report said that when UFC Tonight reached out to Browne, he opted not to comment.

Browne last fought at UFC 187, when he lost to Andrei Arlovski via first-round TKO (punches) in one of the more memorable rounds of the year.

Two main-card bouts are official for World Series of Fighting 24

Nick Newell, who was already booked on the card, now has an opponent in Tom Marcellino and a flyweight title fight between Magomed Bibulatov and Donavon Frelow is also set, WSOF executive vice president Ali Abdel-Aziz told MMAFighting.com’s Ariel Helwani on Tuesday. WSOF 24 will be held on Oct. 17 at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Conn.

Newell (12-1) is coming off a unanimous decision win over Joe Condon in April. Before that, he lost the only bout of his career thus far in a lightweight title fight against Justin Gaethje in July 2014. Newell, 29, boasts a 3-1 record with WSOF. The Connecticut native is a congenital amputee, who was born without a left hand.

Marcellino (7-3) is coming off a loss to Frankie Perez last September. Before that, he had won three straight on the regional circuit. Marcellino, 31, is an upstate New York native.

Bibulatov and Frelow were supposed to meet for the vacant WSOF flyweight belt at WSOF 22 earlier this month, but the fight was postponed due to a Bibulatov injury. Bibulatov (9-0) is a top Chechnyan prospect. Frelow (5-0) has won both of his fights in WSOF, including a first-round guillotine choke submission victory over Carlos Garcia at WSOF 22 on Aug. 1.

WSOF 24 is headlined by a welterweight contender bout between Jon Fitch and Yushin Okami. The co-main event features a heavyweight title fight between Blagoy Ivanov and Derrick Mehmen. Also on the card, Matt Hamill will make his return to MMA against fellow former UFC fighter Vinny Magalhaes.
