Rotterdam, Netherlands, plays host to a big heavyweight showdown this weekend in MMA.

No. 5-ranked heavyweight Alistair Overeem (40-14, 1 NC) meets No. 8-ranked Andrei Arlovski (25-11, 1 NC) in the main event this Sunday, May 8 on UFC Fight Night 87.

Arlovski was on a six-fight win streak entering 2016, but his UFC 195 meeting with Stipe Miocic put that to a quick end. Now the Belorussian will attempt to knock-off his Jackson-Winkeljohn teammate in order to reestablish himself as a title contender.

Overeem is looking to make a statement that he is the next in line for a shot at the gold. After Junior dos Santos defeated Ben Rothwell in April, Overeem now has a clear-cut case with an emphatic victory against Arlovski. A win would make it four straight for the Dutch kickboxer.

So, who walks out of Rotterdam with their sights set on the UFC Heavyweight Championship?

Let’s take a look at the head-to-toe breakdown for Overeem vs. Arlovski.

Not to be outdone, amateur MMA fighter Sheldon Reid threw his name into the mix for Knockout of the Year with a front kick knockout.

At Shinobi War 7, Reid took on Julio Calcina in a bantamweight bout in Liverpool, England.

The two were clinched along the fence when Calcina connected with a low blow. The referee halted the action and restarted the two when Reid was ready. And he certainly was. The front kick KO came just seconds after the restart.

Reid’s kick landed at the moment Calcina planted his feet, which only made it more powerful. Calcina was out right when it connected and face-planted on the canvas below. The KO earned Reid a cash bonus of £1,000.

Reid is now 3-0 as an amateur and should start thinking about turning pro after this violently beautiful knockout.

Knockout of the Year contenders can come from anywhere, and Friday afternoon delivered one of the most spectacular TKOs you will see in 2016.

Twitter MMA personality @GrabakaHitman posted the video of the finish:

Amir Elzhurkaev landed a beautiful spinning back kick to the liver that put his opponent to the floor at Absolute Championship Berkut 34. The event was subtitled “Young Eagles 7,” which appears to be apt name considering Elzhurkaev’s destructive finish.

On the receiving end of the highlight-reel TKO was Dmitrity Tomaev. The two lightweights were making their professional MMA debuts.

With one not-so-simple two-touch spinning back kick, Elzhurkaev put himself on the map. The Russian has a lot to live up to for his next performance after landing an unexpected Knockout of the Year candidate.
