Just days after having his UFC 135 bout scrapped due to injury, Japanese bantamweight Norifumi ‘Kid’ Yamamoto (18-4, 1NC) has a new fight against a new opponent.
Yamamoto is scheduled to face promotion newcomer Darren “BC” Uyenoyama (6-3) at the upcoming UFC on Fox 1 event in November.
UFC officials announced the matchup on Tuesday afternoon at UFC.com.
The UFC on Fox 1 (aka UFC Live on Fox: Velasquez vs. Dos Santos) event is scheduled to take place on November 12 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
Yamamoto’s record recently has reached a bit of a slump these past few years, going 1-3 in his last four fights since May 2009. His popularity was certainly helpful in the UFC signing him after a knockout victory in May of last year at a Dream.14 event. ‘Kid’ would debut at UFC 126 last February, losing a unanimous decision to current No. 1 bantamweight contender Demetrious Johnson.
Uyenoyama has yet to compete in 2011, going 1-1 in 2010, and having no matches in 2009. ‘BC’ is 2-1 over his last three bouts, earning a win in September 2010 at a Shooto event, while losing at a DEEP event in April of the same year. Previous to these two matches, Uyenoyama competed in November 2010, winning a unanimous decision a a Strikeforce – Destruction event.
