Featherweights Dennis ‘The Menace’ Bermudez (7-3), who appeared in the final of TUF 14 at 145-lbs, and ‘The Scarecrow’ Pablo Garza (11-2) have agreed to meet in May as part of the upcoming UFC on FOX 3 show in New Jersey.
The bout was announced by UFC officials on Friday afternoon at UFC.com.
In the featherweight division, TUF 14 finalist Dennis Bermudez has agreed to take on Pablo Garza, known for his dynamic fighting style that’s seen Octagon finishes via flying knee and flying guillotine.
UFC on FOX 3 is expected to take place on May 5, 2012 at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Officially Bermudez is 0-3 in his last three fights, but the Team Mayhem fighter fought his way into the Finale of “TUF 14″ by defeating three other cast mates. Bermudez would lose by armbar submission to Diego Brandao last December in a bout that was crowned the “Fight of the Night” despite it going just one round. Previous to the three official losses, Bermudez was undefeated winning seven straight.
Garza is 2-1 in the Octagon, losing his last bout to Dustin Poirier at the UFC on FOX 1 show last November after tapping to d’arce choke submission from the ‘Diamond’. Previous to the loss, ‘The Scarecrow’ had beaten Yves Jabouin at UFC 129 earning the “Submission of the Night” bonus, and had stopped Fredson Paixão via flying knee KO at the TUF 12 Finale, which earned him another bonus for the “Knockout of the Night”.
