Daniel RobertsWith less than a week to go and most of the focus still on UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre and his opponent Jake Shields, it’s sometimes easy to forget that their are another twenty fighters competing on the same UFC 129 card.

One of those fighters, Daniel “Ninja” Roberts (12-1) meets Claude Patrick at the Toronto event, and holds a vested interest in the outcome of the GSP vs. Shields bout. Especially since he fights at 170 lbs and is a teammate to Shields as part of Team Cesar Gracie.

Roberts said recently that he will look at ending the fight against Patrick “as fast as possible” and will look for his fourth straight win when he meets his Canadian opponent on the preliminary card of UFC 129. Both men square off in the last bout streamed live on Facebook before another teammate of Roberts, Nate Diaz squares of with Rory MacDonald on the Spike TV “UFC Prelims” special before the pay per view.

“Destroy. Finish him. Hurt. Damage. I’m looking to win as fast as possible. That’s always on my mind. ‘What can I do to end this?’ I just stay extremely focused on my job. It’s a cool job; I get to beat up people in the cage. You may be nervous the first couple fights, but do you get nervous when you go to work everyday? It’s your job, you know? I’m used to doing this so I stay extremely focused because I’m doing my job. My goal is just to win. I don’t like to set long term goals. My goal is to win my fight against Claude Patrick and then from there on out is to win my next fight and to just keep winning. I’m going to be concentrating all my energy on Claude Patrick. I’m not gonna say any other opponents until I beat him. I’ll be ready for anything once I beat him.”
