Late Wednesday night, the Ultimate Fighting Championship promotion added two more bouts to it’s upcoming inaugural event on FUEL TV with a featherweight fight between Jonathan Brookins (12-4) vs. Rani Yahya (16-7), as well as a middleweight scrap featuring Aaron ‘A-Train’ Simpson (11-2) and Ronny Markes (12-1).
The announcement was made by officials via Twitter (@ufc).
Added to UFC on FUEL 1: Aaron Simpson vs. Ronny Markes at middleweight; Jonathan Brookins vs. Rani Yayha at feathwerweight
UFC on FUEL TV 1 is expected to take place on February 15th at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Nebraska. The headliner should be a welterweight bout between Jake Ellenberger and Diego Sanchez.
Brookins, the season 12 winner of TUF, had a four fight win streak stopped, losing for the first time in the octagon to Erik Koch at UFN 25 last September.
Yahya is likely facing elimination from the UFC having gone 1-3 in his last four bouts, which includes going 1-1 in the UFC as a featherweight. His last fight was in August at UFC 133, where he lost a decision to Chad Mendes.
‘A-Train’ recovered from back-to-back losses last year by earning three wins in 2011. He won all three by decision, defeating Mario Miranda, Brad, Tavares, and most recently, Erc Schafer which happened at UFC 136.
Markes made his UFC debut last August at the UFC on Versus 5 event, earning his fifth straight victory by defeating Karlos Vemola by decision.
