Jessica Aguilar was forced out of her scheduled showdown against Jodie Esquibel last Friday night (June 1, 2018) at UFC Fight Night 131 in Utica, New York, due to a severe case of chapped lips.

Seriously.

It was through no fault of Jessica’s, however, as the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) pulled the plug on the women’s Strawweight fight after it deemed Aguilar’s condition to be contagious.

No fret, as the combatants have been rescheduled to face off at the upcoming UFC Fight Night 133 event on July 14, 2018, inside CenturyLink Arena in Boise, Idaho, according to Jessica’s latest Instagram post.

Aguilar — the former WSOF strawweight champion — has had a rough go as of late, dropping two in a row to Claudia Gadelha and Cortney Casey. Esquibel, meanwhile, was last seen losing to Karolina Kowalkiewicz last October in what was her Octagon debut.

While I doubt Idaho’s athletic commission is as strict as NYSAC, it would behoove Aguilar to bring some extra chapstick just in case.

UFC Fight Night 133 will feature a showdown between former UFC Heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos taking on former WSOF 265-pound king, Blagoy Ivanov. Elsewhere on the card, James Vick will face Paul Felder while Chad Mendes returns from a two-year suspension to take on Myles Jury.
