The former UFC featherweight champion ridicules Conor McGregor’s performance against Nate Diaz at UFC 196.

Jose Aldo hasn’t dealt well with the loss to Conor McGregor at UFC 194. “Scarface”, who had been undefeated for 10 years, was knocked out in the 1st round after enduring months’ of the Irishman’s trash talk.

The Brazilian vowed to accept a rematch with McGregor “any time, anywhere” and claimed he was training for a potential bout with “The Notorious” incase Rafael dos Anjos pulled out of UFC 196. Dos Anjos did, in fact, withdraw from the contest with a broken foot but Aldo refused to accept a rematch with McGregor on short notice.

With UFC 196 in jeapordy, McGregor leapt up two weight classes to take on late-replacement Nate Diaz in the main event. Diaz weathered McGregor’s early barrage of left hands and persevered to snatch a rear-naked choke in the 2nd round.

Aldo said that he had no interest in the matchup and wasn’t going to watch it, but the former featherweight champion was quick to criticize his Irish rival in the immediate aftermath. The Nova Uniao product diminished McGregor’s KO power and claimed that he slipped on a skateboard at UFC 194.

Aldo targeted McGregor again earlier today, accusing the Dubliner of quitting when the going got tough against Diaz.

“You will come back (to the featherweight division) with your tail between your legs after what happened, after that embarrassment,” Aldo told Esporte Espetacular (h/t Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting). “You will come back. My hand almost caught you, but when it does for good, you will sleep.”

“He’s a lion when he’s attacking, but a kitten when he’s getting beat up,” Aldo said. “Everybody saw in his eyes that he’s just a p—- that quits when he’s getting beat up. That’s what we saw.”

The Rio de Janeiro native is campaigning hard for his shot at redemption against McGregor and vows “run through him” when they meet again.

“I’m waiting for the rematch,” he said. “It’s the right thing to do in my opinion because there was no fight, and everybody wants to see a fight. Everybody wants to see me beating him up, and that’s what I’m going to do. I will run through him, that’s a fact. I don’t see other scenario in my head besides going there and winning, and getting my belt back.”

Although McGregor was expected to return to his championship weight class to defend the title against Jose Aldo or Frankie Edgar, the UFC are planning to match the SBG Ireland fighter up with Nate Diaz for a rematch at UFC 200 in July.
