Aldo says he will get McGregor ‘even if it’s in the streets’

Jose Aldo has Frankie Edgar in front of him at UFC 200, but he definitely hasn’t forgotten about Conor McGregor.

It goes without saying, but Jose Aldo is clearly still hung up on Conor McGregor. The longtime UFC featherweight champion was defeated by McGregor in just 13 seconds at UFC 194 in December, and has vowed revenge ever since. Despite a plethora of former champions getting immediate rematches, the UFC elected to let McGregor fight for the lightweight title instead – but as you probably know by now, that never happened.

Aldo will now fight Frankie Edgar for an interim featherweight title at UFC 200, and hosted a Q&A in Curitiba ahead of the UFC 198 weigh-ins. Aldo is confident he’ll beat Edgar again, and he vowed to get Conor back as well (via MMA Fighting):

I don’t think (the rematch with Edgar) will be like the first one. He’s coming differently, but when we get into it he will go back to his game, and that’s when we’re catching him. I revised my concepts, we learn a lot with the losses, and I learned.”

“I will get there and run through (Edgar). It doesn’t matter what happens, we will win the fight,” he said. “After that, we will get (McGregor) even if it’s in the streets.”

McGregor was scheduled to headline UFC 200 in a welterweight rematch with Nate Diaz, but was sidelined due to a promotional disagreement with the UFC. He is likely to return in the fall.
