MMA: UFC Newark- Gall vs Touahri

Reasons for the fight cancellation are unclear.

Once again, Mickey Gall is without a fight.

Officials announced on Friday that Gall’s bout against Alex Oliveira, scheduled for February 29th at UFC Norfolk, has now been cancelled. No explanation was given as to why the fight was called off.

Gall (6-2) was supposed to fight on this month’s UFC Washington card against Carlos Condit, but when Condit withdrew due to injury, no replacement was found in time so the UFC opted to remove him from the event. The young prospect is coming off a decision win over Salim Touahri at UFC Newark in August, bouncing back from a TKO defeat to Diego Sanchez.

Oliveira (19-8-1) is on a three-fight losing skid, most recently dropping a decision to Nicolas Dalby at UFC Copenhagen in September. Along with defeats to Gunnar Nelson and Mike Perry, this is the only losing streak that “Cowboy” has ever experienced. He has made some headlines outside the cage for allegedly assaulting his ex-wife in May. Oliveira’s manager called the reports “inaccurate” and the UFC has not commented on the matter.

UFC Norfolk streams live on ESPN+ and is headlined by a vacant men’s flyweight title bout between Joseph Benavidez and Deivson Figueiredo.
