UFC heavyweight Alistair Overeem has applied for a new fighter’s license with the Nevada State Athletic Commission, in anticipation of his upcoming UFC 146 main event title bout with Junior dos Santos.
Overeem though, failed a pre-fight drug screening by the NSAC and is expected to appear at a hearing with the Commission on April 24th for having elevated testosterone to epitestosterone levels to a level of 14:1, much higher than the 6:1 allowable limit of the NSAC.
NSAC executive director Keith Kizer stated the news with TheFlyingKnee.com, “He filed his application for licensure, but (Overeem) has not requested the B sample to be tested.”
Overeem submitted two test samples, an A and B sample to the NSAC at the surprise pre-fight drug screening, and it was his A sample that tested 14:1 of T-to-E levels. If the Dutch fighter requests that his B sample be tested, and it comes back clean, then the entire issue will likely be dropped, but a positive test will only solidify his guilt further.
