Welterweight Warllery Alves hopes to pick up an impressive win over Jeremiah Wells at UFC Vegas 30.

TUF Brazil 3 champion Warlley Alves has big hopes for his career should he score a win at UFC Vegas 29. Paired up against short-notice replacement Jeremiah Wells, the ‘Slingshot’ wishes that an impressive enough performance could put him in the top 15 of the division so he can better represent his home country.

After knocking out Mounir Lazzez in his last outing, Alves was set to face Ramazan Emeev, but the Russian was forced out of the card due to injury. Now scheduled to take on promotional newcomer Wells, the 30-year-old tells Combate he expects nothing short of a war, with him coming out on top at the end.

“I know it’s going to be a brawl,” Alves said. “He’s a tough guy, you can’t underestimate him. He’s a newcomer, so he’s hungry. He wants to show his worth. I know he hits hard, but I’m prepared. I did my part and I know God will do what He always does and I’ll have my hand raised.”

“My intention is to enter the top 15,” Warlley continued. “Once I’m there, things will start to be a little better. I’m very blessed guy. I live in a country which I love. I travel, I love the United States. There are so many places I want to visit. But to be a Brazilian is a blessing to me. I’m so happy to live in Brazil. To have that contact with the fans. To be in a place and hear a fan be like: ‘It’s so cool that you represented Brazil, you were awesome. Go out there and kick some ass.’. I’m very happy to do what I do. I’m going to put on a show because I’m happy.”

Before his win over Lazzez, Alves (14-4) had been submitted via triangle choke by Randy Brown, back in November 2019. The defeat came right after a knockout win over fellow Brazilian Sergio Moraes, in May of the same year.

Now, Alves is expected to meet Wells at UFC Vegas 30, on June 26, at the UFC Apex, in Las Vegas. The card is scheduled to be headlined by a heavyweight bout between top contenders Alexander Volkov and Ciryl Gane.
