Bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes talks about defeating Ronda Rousey and wanting to defend belt in Brazil.

Amanda Nunes is still excited about having defeated former champion Ronda Rousey in her first title defense at UFC 207. As Amanda told Combate, getting an early TKO win was even better, as she could hardly keep herself together with excitement during the match.

“It was a 10-year old dream coming true. Surreal. It’s hard to explain, you just have to live it. It was perfect to walk out of the cage with my belt. It felt so good, you know? Every punch on that face made me want to want to laugh, but I kept myself together. It was great. When I was at UFC 198, in Curitiba, I promised all fans I would take the belt from Miesha Tate, defend it against Ronda and bring the belt to Brazil.”

Now that she has defend the title against the most dominant champion to ever carry the belt, Amanda Nunes would like to defend it in her home country, as she didn’t fight in Brazil so much in her career.

“I sure want to be in Brazil more often. I left Brazil too early in my career. I had to focus on my career to achieve my goal. Now that the dream has come true, I want to share this wonderful moment with the Brazilian fans. I want to defend my belt here. I want to fight Valentina Shevchenko in Brazil. I already defeated her once. It would be perfect for UFC 212. I also plan to open a gym only for women.”

Amanda Nunes knocked Ronda Rousey out at UFC 207, on December 30 2016, in Las Vegas.
