News of a welterweight matchup surfaced Friday afternoon pitting TUF 7 winner Amir Sadollah (6-4) against former kickboxer Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson (6-1) for an unnamed UFC event set for Memorial Day weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The May 25th bout was announced by MMAFighting.com earlier today.

Sadollah is 1-2 in his last three matches having dropped a decision to Dan Hardy last September in England at UFC on FUEL TV 5. The former TUF winner picked up a win in May at UFC on FUEL TV 3 with a split decision victory over Jorge Lopez. The two had been scheduled to meet at UFC 143 but an injury to Sadollah forced him off the card. The second loss, came in August 2011, losing to Duane Ludwig by decision at UFC on Versus 5.

Thompson is looking to improve on his 1-1 record in the Octagon, losing to Matt Brown by decision last April at UFC 145. The defeat was ‘Wonderboy’s’ first of his career after a 6-0 run which included a “KOTN” win against Dan Stittgen at UFC 143. Thompson had been scheduled to fight in November at UFC 145 versus Besam Yousef but suffered a knee injury and was replaced by Matt Riddle.
