Last night was a big night in the world of entertainment.
Not only did WWE stage its annual “Royal Rumble” pay-per-view (PPV) event, the music business handed out its most prestigious awards at the Grammys, and unbeknownst to most UFC fans, Jorge Masvidal went home with a trophy.
“Honored to have received a Grammy for my hit,” Masvidal wrote on Twitter. “Thank you all that appreciate my work and stay tuned for next album, ‘Don’t Be a Beta’ w/ two hit tracks ‘Too Much Man For You’ and ‘Who.’”
The real winner was Dan Smyers, along with Shay Mooney of the group “Dan + Shay.”
Also in attendance at the Grammys was former UFC double champ Conor McGregor, who reacted to the news that basketball great Kobe Bryant passed away earlier in the day. “Notorious” was there because … he’s famous, I guess.

“For me, the first time I ever came to America, Kobe was one of the big stars and one of the men that jumped out,” McGregor said. “We don’t really understand basketball (in Ireland) too much, but Kobe – his star transcends sport, and a great man. I would have loved to meet him. It’s a very sad day.”
Both Masvidal and McGregor are unbooked at this time but are likely to see action within the next few months, perhaps against each other. If not, “Gamebred” remains at the top of a very short list to fight for the welterweight title, while “Notorious” could earn himself a second shot at lightweight gold.
