So if you guys watch the mmafix.com podcasts, you guys know that I like to rant. I’m not going to toot my own horn; some of my rants are fucking awesome. This is going to be another one.
Anderson Mother Fucking Silva. You don’t get to pick the fights, Joe Silva does! Dana White has been telling us for weeks now that it’s a process to get Anderson interested in a fight. Finally, that process is done. Chris Weidman is finally scheduled to face Anderson Silva on July 6th. I get that Anderson is 38, and he’s probably on the tail end of his career; but when you’re the champion you fight all comers.
Weidman is fucking 9-0 and 5-0 in the UFC; he’s coming off a vicious knock out of Mark Munoz. In a division like the Middleweights I think that is more than justifying for a title shot. Apparently Anderson Silva doesn’t think so. The UFC has been throwing, and I mean throwing handfuls of money at Silva just to get him to take this fight. I’m not saying Silva is scared, he’s probably going to win this fight; but you can’t hold up the entire division because you don’t like the fight they offered.
I hope Chris Weidman beats Silva, I really do. That would mean he can either go up to 205 and fight Jones, or retire. Weidman has the skills, he’s stronger than Sonnen, his boxing probably isn’t as good, and his BJJ is solid. Not to mention that Weidman is a fucking massive 185lber. I’m not saying Weidman can’t hold Anderson down for five rounds; he has the power to finish the champ. I just don’t think it will happen.
Let’s face it, Anderson is going to finish Weidman in spectacular fashion, I kind of think it’ll be a knee when Weidman takes a shot. Silva won’t learn his lesson, he’s going to continue to fight once a year, and he’s going to continue to be a priss. Anderson Silva, you are a fantastic fighter, but I hate your attitude, and I fucking hate Ed Soares.
