The Titan FC Featherweight Champion makes his case for a shot in the UFC at 11:30 in the video above.
Andre Harrison has had the ideal start to an MMA carrer. He is a perfect 12-0, with wins ranging from first round knockouts to 25 minute split decisions. He has competed against a variety of fighters, from hot prospects to former UFC competitors.
On top of that, Harrison is a reigning champion in an organization with close ties to the UFC. He will be making his third title defense this Friday at Titan FC 39, where he’ll be defending his Featherweight belt against Deivison Ribeiro.
Another title defense would solidify Harrison as one of the best Featherweight prospects outside of the UFC. It only seems like a matter of time before Harrison gets his shot in the big leagues.
“I really envision myself as one of the top featherweights, period. Not just in Titan FC but overall.” Harrison told Michael Hutchinson on Weekly MMA Talk.
While still focused on his title defense, Harrison did talk about two of his dreams possibly coming true. Those would be to fight in the UFC and to fight in his home state of New York at Madison Square Garden.
“Being that the UFC is coming to New York, I’m pretty sure they’ll be looking to sign some New York fighters. Being that it’s there, I would love, love, love to get on that card.”
UFC 205 will be the UFC’s first event in New York City after a ban on the sport was lifted earlier this year. The event is currently scheduled for November 12th, with no fights having been announced.
Getting a spot on the highly anticipated fight card would not only give Harrison a chance to show of his skills in the UFC, but would end his streak of fighting away from home.
“That would be good to fight in my hometown finally. Get everyone that’s been wanting to come see me fight. Some people might not be able to make it to Miami, Washington or Alabama and some of the other places I’ve fought in, so this would be ideal.”
Titan FC 39 takes place this Friday on UFC Fight Pass. The event features three title fights, with a Welterweight Championship fight between Gesias Cavalcante and Pat Healy headlining the card.
