Junior Albini couldn’t get much going against Andrei Arlovski.
Heavyweight action was on display when former UFC heavyweight champion Arlovski took on rising prospect “Baby” Albini on the main card of (Sat., November 11, 2017) UFC Fight Night 120 from the Ted Constant Convocation Center in Norfolk, Virginia.
Albini had no problem throwing leather early. Arlovski was there with him. Eventually, Albini pushed his opponent against the fence. “The Pitbull” got out of the clinch.
A leg kick was there for Arlovski. He went for an overhand, but it was blocked. Albini again pushed the former champion against the cage. He landed an elbow over the top. He snuck in a left hook near the end of the round.
Early in the second stanza, Albini pressed his opponent against the fence. The action was broken up for a lack of activity. Arlovski once again found his back against the fence. Arlovski got our of the hold and landed an uppercut.
A body shot was there for Arlovski. Another uppercut connected for Arlovski. He connected with a spinning back kick to the body. A straight right found the target for Arlovski. “The Pitbull” looked to have stolen the round.
Arlovski landed a couple of body shots. A jab was there for Arlovski. Albini got tagged with a right hand. He blocked a high kick. A switch kick by Arlovski was blocked. Time was briefly called for an eye poke to Arlovski. The two traded blows once time resumed. Blood trickled below the eye of Albini. Arlovski remained active.
Arlovski connected with an uppercut. A left hand landed for Albini. Arlovski landed a knee to the groin and time was called. Albini moved forward and pressed his opponent against the fence. A knee to the body was there for Arlovski. The round came to a close and Arlovski pulled off the decision win.
Final Result: Andrei Arlovski def. Junior Albini via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27)
