Andy Souwer has sent shockwaves through the Asian MMA community by signing an exclusive contract with ONE Championship.

Rizin FF announced that Souwer would be facing Takanori Gomi on July 29th. However it appears that the two time K-1 Max champion has decided to leave the Japanese promotion in order to compete for ONE.

Souwer is also a multiple time Shoot boxing champion and one of the best kickboxers to ever test himself in MMA. The recent launch of the ONE Super Series will allow him to compete in both codes, all under one roof.

Souwer has beaten the likes of Buakaw Banchamek and Yodsaenklai Fairtex. He won the K-1 Max tournament in 2005 and 2007 establishing himself as arguably the number one kickboxer in the world during this period.

A veteran of five MMA fights, Souwer will also have the opportunity to compete in ONE Championship’s lightweight division where potential opponents include Shinya Aoki. However the kickboxing opportunities are even more intriguing as Yodsaenklai and Giorgio Petrosyan could both be options.

The only question is whether ONE Championship will allow Souwer to compete in his iconic spandex tights?
