Former UFC heavyweight title challenger Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva will not be returning to the world’s largest mixed martial arts promotion. According to a report from MMAJunkie, Silva and the UFC have agreed to mutually part ways.
The Brazilian has fallen on extremely rough times as of late, losing five of his last six bouts with all five of those losses coming by way of stoppage, an alarming sign to say the least. The 37-year-old slugger picked up notable wins over Travis Browne and Alistair Overeem while also challenging Cain Velasquez for the heavyweight title back at UFC 160 during his run with the promotion.
Although he didn’t sign a new deal with the UFC, Silva hasn’t said that he plans on retiring. If he does indeed plan to stick around the fight game, it wouldn’t be surprising to see another promotion attempt to sign him given the fact that he’s still a relatively well-known name within the sport. In fact, RIZIN FF expressed interest in signing the Brazilian earlier this year.
Do you expect to see “Bigfoot” compete again?
