The Ultimate Fighting Championship announced a bantamweight bout for it’s upcoming UFC 133 event. Meeting at the August event will be Ivan “Pride of El Salvador” Menjivar (22-8), fresh off his opening event win at UFC 129, and Nick Pace (6-1).
“Bantamweights Ivan Menjivar and Nick Pace have agreed to fight each other August 6, at UFC 133 in Philadelphia,” said UFC President Dana White. “Menjivar is coming off a devastating elbow KO win and Pace utilized a rarely seen type of submission to secure the victory in his last outing.”
UFC 133 is expected to take place on August 6 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The bout between Menivar and Pace will likely take place on the preliminary card of the event.
As stated, Menjivar is fresh off his first round TKO victory over Charlie Valencia at the Toronto event last month. It was his first UFC appearance since making his debut with the promotion back in June of 2004 at UFC 48, where he lost a unanimous decision to Matt Serra. Before his win over Valencia, the “Pride of El Salvador” debuted with the WEC last December at WEC 53 losing a unanimous decision to Brad Pickett.
Pace’s record over his last two fights is similar to his opponents, having won his last bout in the Octagon, while losing the match before that with the WEC. Pace debuted with the UFC at the “TUF 12 Finale”, earning a third round submission win over Will Campuzano in a 138 lb catchweight bout. The loss under the WEC banner, which was the first of his career as well as his WEC debut, was to Demetrious Johnson at WEC 51.
