Bellator 150 fight card gets Kongo vs Queiroz, Ovchynnikova vs Ruth

Bellator 150: “Galvao vs. Dantas 2” comes to the Kansas Star Arena in Mulvane, Kan., on Feb. 26, 2016. The main event that night will be the long-awaited rematch between Bantamweight champion Marcos Galvao against Eduardo Dantas.

The Spike TV-televised event has been bit by the injury bug, with the mixed martial arts (MMA) league confirming what Vinicius Queiroz had already told the press — he will fill in for Augusto Sakai against Cheick Kongo in a Heavyweight showdown.

Kongo (23-10-2) and Quieroz (8-3) were originally scheduled to meet at Bellator 106 in Nov. 2013, but injuries also derailed that fight from ever taking place. That bout would have been the Heavyweight tournament finals, but Kongo wound up facing — and defeating — Peter Graham at Bellator 107 instead.

Bellator MMA also recently announced that the main card will feature the debut of newly-signed women’s Flyweight fighter Lena Ovchynnikova (10-3) and rising star Rebecca Ruth (5-1).

The Ukraine-born Ovchynnikova holds the nickname “Hunter” and has previously fought Invicta FC and UFC star Joanne Calderwood. Ruth won all of her bouts in 2015, holding only one split decision loss to UFC 194 fighter Jocelyn Jones-Lybarger.
