In the Bellator 206 co-main event, Rampage Jackson knocked out Wanderlei Silva in the second round.

Quinton Jackson evened the score in his rivalry with Wanderlei Silva Saturday night.

“Rampage,” a former UFC light heavyweight champion, defeated Silva via second-round TKO in the Bellator 206 co-main event, which took place at SAP Center in San Jose. The win marked Jackson’s first stoppage win in over four years and his second win over “The Axe Murderer.” Their rivalry is now tied at 2-2.

Jackson and Silva slugged it out until the referee intervened midway through the fight. Jackson was the aggressor, stalking his opponent, even forcing Silva to quickly move away from Jackson at times. Jackson landed at a more consistent rate, but Silva had his moments, too, landing shots from the outside. The fight featured bursts of violence from both sides in between clinch exchanges.

Jackson put Silva away with a right hand, followed by some ground-and-pound, to return to the winning column.

What was the highlight of the fight?

Expectations were rather low for Jackson vs. Silva 4, considering both are in their 40s and haven’t had exactly great performances as of late. The highlight of the fight is simply that is was actually entertaining. Some expected a quick knockout from either fighter, others expected a gritty — and, let’s be honest, boring — three-round affair. Not many thought we’d see Jackson and Silva slug it out in 2018, so let’s just be happy this fourth fight was worth our time.

Where do these two go from here?

I hate myself for suggesting this, but if Bellator books a fifth fight between Jackson and Silva, I wouldn’t be entirely opposed. Scores have to ultimately be settled, right? Jackson and Silva are at two wins a piece, so it only makes sense …

In reality, if Silva decides to hang his gloves up, I’d be glad. There’s no real reason for him to take any more damage. And to be fair, the same goes for Jackson, but since he won, I expect we’ll see him back in the cage soon enough.
