Bellator Fighting Championships pulled in an average viewer audience of 226,000 viewers for last Saturday’s, August 20, Bellator 48 event.

Those numbers ranked fifth overall for all Bellator events shown on MTV2, with the three “Summer Series” shows averaging 242,000 viewers.

Bellator 48 featured a four bout main card and was headlined by the Summer Series Featherweight Tournament final between Pat Curran and Marlon Sandro. The event took place at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.

Curran captured his second $100,000 check, after having won the season two lightweight tourny, by knocking out the favored Sandro in the second round with a head kick. Curran will now move on to meet Bellator champ Joe Warren.

Also featured on the main card was Bellator heavyweight champ Cole Konrad, who earned a unanimous decision over Paul Buentello in a non-title fight as part of the evenings co-main event.

Seth Petruzelli stopped former UFC heavyweight champ Ricco Rodriguez by TKO with a first round finish, while Brazilian Rene Nazare earned a second round TKO doctor stoppage victory over Juan Barrantes in the opening match of the MTV2 broadcast.
