Bellator 65 Moment – Eduardo Dantas Chokes Out Zach Makovsky To Capture Bantamweight Title

Bellator Fighting Championships crowned a new champion at 135-lbs Friday night (April 13, 2012) as Season Five Tournament winner Eduardo Dantas (14-2) choked out former title holder Zach ‘Funsize’ Makovsky (14-3) in the second round of their bout. It was the first title defense for Makovsky who had won eight straight before last nights loss. Dantas used some solid kicks in the first to take the round, with Makovsky changing tactics to takedowns in the second. It would prove to be a mistake as Dantas reversed a takedown and would sink in an arm-triangle, choking out Makovsky for the technical submission win at 3:26 of the second.
