Scott Coker is interested in signing Brock Lesnar for a bout against Fedor Emelianenko.

Brock Lesnar is reportedly a free agent again, and is said to have negotiations with the WWE on “pause” right now. The former UFC heavyweight champion has teased a return to mixed martial arts multiple times before, especially to get a leg up on negotiations, and his free agency is already making waves in the sport.

Bellator President Scott Coker has already expressed his interest in booking him against Fedor Emelianenko.

“Yes, if he’s truly available,” Coker told Ariel Helwani. “Fedor vs. Brock is interesting. It’s the fight that never happened!”

Fedor vs Lesnar should’ve happened a decade ago, and it’s something Dana White still regrets not putting on. The chances of Coker making it happen now though, is pretty low, even if we don’t even consider negotiations with Fedor.

For years, Lesnar has used a potential return to mixed martial arts as a way to get a better deal with the WWE, and he could very well just do that again now. Pro-wrestling has always been the better long term solution for the now 43-year-old, and he currently also has other avenues in that business, with AEW being a good alternative that can likely afford Lesnar’s asking price.

If Lesnar somehow decides to return to MMA, there could be another possible road block for Bellator. In what Coker could’ve been alluding to in his statement, there’s a chance that Lesnar’s UFC contract is still valid and just frozen since his last retirement from the sport.

Lesnar and Fedor’s star power would be enough for it to still sell really well in 2020 or 2021, but so many things have to fall into place, and it just doesn’t seem to be a very realistic option right now.
