Jordan Parsons, 25, a fighter competing in Bellator MMA‘s featherweight division, has lost his entire right leg after falling victim to a hit-and-run vehicle collision early Sunday morning in Florida.

Doctors originally amputated only part of Parsons’ leg, but on Monday removed his entire leg after his organs began to fail during heart surgery. MMA reporter Ariel Helwani first passed along the news on Monday after speaking with Glenn Robinson, who heads the Blackzilians camp where Parsons trains (h/t Nick Baldwin of Bloody Elbow):

Parsons has been in a coma since the collision and remains in critical condition at Delray Medical Center in Delray Beach, Florida. The full extent of his injuries remains unclear.

His scheduled May 14 bout with Adam Piccolotti was canceled.

Investigators with the Delray Beach Police Department are still searching for the perpetrator but announced a break in the case via Twitter Monday: the make and model of the suspect’s vehicle:

Parsons’ fighting career is likely over as a result of the collision. If that is the case, his career would end with a professional record of 11-2, including a 2-1 mark in Bellator

Parsons’ family set up a GoFundMe page to help offset Parsons’ medical costs.
