Ben Henderson set to compete at ADCC 2015 in Brazil

Former UFC lightweight champion Ben Henderson will compete at the upcoming Abu Dhabi Combat Club tournament in Brazil.

Coming off a fourth-round submission win over Brandon Thatch in a 170-pound bout in February, “Smooth” has accepted an invitation to compete at the ADCC 2015, which takes place on Aug. 29 and 30 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, sources close to the situation confirmed to MMAFighting.com.

A jiu-jitsu black belt under John Crouch, Henderson competed several times in IBJJF grappling tournaments, and will enter ADCC’s 77kg (170 pounds) category.

Henderson won’t be the only MMA star entering the mat to compete at ADCC 2015. UFC welterweight Hector Lombard and Invicta FC champion Cris Cyborg are also slated to compete in Sao Paulo, and ADCC officials expect more MMA athletes to enter the tournament.

ADCC 2015 will also feature a pair of superfights, with ADCC 2013 absolute champion Roberto “Cyborg” Abreu taking on Andre Galvao, and ATT head coach Ricardo Liborio meets PRIDE veteran Ze Mario Sperry.
