Vote now in the Bloody Elbow’s Baddest Tournament to determine the Greatest MMA Fight of All Time. Today we have #1 Robbie Lawler vs. Rory MacDonald 2 taking on #3 Jose Aldo vs. Chad Mendes 2. Vote now!

It’s time to move on to the quarter finals of our BE’s BADDEST Tournament Series to figure out what is the single Greatest MMA Fight Of All Time—that one bout to watch before the world ends. In yesterday’s tournament matchup, the blue corner’s #6 ranked, Robert Whittaker vs. Yoel Romero 2, defeated the #4 seed, Forrest Griffin vs. Stephan Bonnar, by a score of 22-11 to be the final entry to make it into the upcoming Round of Eight.

For today’s matchup, we have the red corner’s #1 seed, Robbie Lawler vs. Rory MacDonald 2 throwing down with the #3 ranked, Jose Aldo vs. Chad Mendes 2. The winner of this matchup will move on to the final four to face the upcoming winner of #2 Robbie Lawler vs. Carlos Condit 1 against #3 Justin Gaethje vs. Michael Johnson.

Robbie Lawler vs. Rory MacDonald 2 was a fantastic scrap. Rory’s nose. Robbie’s lip. Momentum swings with a fifth round finish. Both men showed off tons of heart and toughness for days. What a wild welterweight title fight this was!

Jose Aldo vs. Chad Mendes 2 went down at UFC 179 on October 25, 2014. This was top shelf talent going blow for blow for the UFC featherweight strap. Mendes had improved a lot since their initial meeting, but Aldo had achieved god-mode. Mendes landed some heavy leather, but Aldo was hitting just a little bit harder and landing the better shots. Aldo was also able to address most of the takedowns, not allowing Mendes to control him on the ground. At the end of a tough five-rounds, it was Aldo who retained his title and extended his winning streak to an impossible 18.
