Conor McGregor recently made headlines for scuffling with Machine Gun Kelly at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Conor McGregor managed to eke out another week in the combat sports spotlight this week thanks to throwing a drink at recording artist Machine Gun Kelly on the MTV Video Music Awards’ red carpet. It has been alleged that incident stemmed from McGregor sending private messages to Kelly’s date, actor Megan Fox. McGregor has since said that the whole thing is water under the bridge and invited Kelly to his future fights.

Among those who were not impressed with McGregor’s belligerence on the red carpet is former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping—who has had some digital run-ins with McGregor lately.

On his podcast he claimed that McGregor’s actions may be the result of pain medication, taken in response to the badly broken leg he suffered at UFC 264 in July.

“I’ve been there,” commented Bisping (ht MMA Junkie). “I mean, I’ve not been there doing that at the MTV fucking music awards. What I mean is that I’ve had surgery, and the medication that they give you, you lose your fucking mind. I think a lot of that was because he was out of his mind, on the pain pills because that’s how it goes.

“They make you very fucking antsy, very erratic, very angry. Me and [my son] Callum, Callum is the calmest kid ever. Callum was fucking arguing with everything I was saying when he had surgery. They kind of make you like that. I don’t know. I’m not making excuses for him, but just from what I saw, I was like, ‘Yeah, I’ve had that feeling before.’”

Bisping and McGregor were embroiled in a war of words recently when ‘The Count’ waded into Twitter beef that was going down between ‘The Notorious’ and his oft-broadcast buddy Daniel Cormier.

Bisping went so far as to say that the former UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight champion would tear McGregor limb from limb if their spat were to turn physical.

McGregor’s response to this was to bash Bisping’s achievements in the cage and claim that he was taking commissions from the fellow Paradigm Sports client’s fight purses. The argument between the pair stretched out for a number of days, with Bisping eventually asking, “Don’t know what’s getting deleted quicker. [McGregor’s] tweets or his legacy.”
