The Shark Fights promotion has now signed a third opponent to face former WWE star Bobby Lashley (6-1) for the main event of this Friday’s Shark Fights 21 event.

Stepping in on less than a weeks notice, according to MMAjunkie.com, will be heavyweight Mark Martinez (4-1) who meets Lashley for the Shark Fights heavyweight title at the upcoming Texas event.

Shark Fights 21 is set to take place this Friday, Nov. 11, at the Fair Park Coliseum in Lubbock, Texas. The event will air via-tape delay on Dec. 23 on FUEL TV.

Lashley was originally scheduled to face former champ Darrill Schoonover, but an injury forced the former TUF 10 fighter off the card. The promotion stripped Schoonover of the title and named Dave Huckaba as Lashley’s opponent for the now vacant title. Just this past weekend, Huckaba too pulled out of the event due to undisclosed reasons.

Lashley earned a unanimous decision victory over John Ott last March in the headliner for Titan Fighting Championship 17. That win put the former pro-wrestler back in the win column after losing to Chad Griggs at Strikeforce: Houston in August 2010.

Martinez has won four straight, earning two of this wins in 2011. His last match took place under the KOTC banner last April, earning a second round knockout victory over Josh Luna at the Texas show. So far Martinez has one KO victory, two submission, and one split decision win in his career.
