The flyweight bout between Ryan Benoit and Zarrukh Adashev was pulled from Sat. night’s (May 8, 2021) UFC Vegas 26 card at APEX in Las Vegas after the 31 year-old “Baby Face” nearly killed himself making weight, which I’m sure in his mind was the right thing to do.

But if your team has to carry you to the scale, then somebody fucked up somewhere along the way, and Benoit’s coaches should be ashamed of themselves for not stepping in sooner. And a special “fuck you” to the commission for allowing Benoit to weigh in a second time.

Idiots.

Fighters have died from cutting weight but a tragedy of that magnitude has yet to occur under the UFC banner, which is why the antiquated practice is allowed to continue — and why fighters like this bantamweight are leaving the weigh ins on a stretcher.

Benoit’s opponent, Ludovit Klein, made the featherweight limit (146) and will likely receive his “show” purse.
