Officials with the Ultimate Fighting Championship announced a middleweight bout for the recently announced UFC on FUEL TV 3 card pitting TUF 11 fighter Brad Tavares (7-1) against South Korean ‘The Ox’ Dongi Yang (10-2).
The promotion announced the bout Saturday night at UFC.com.
UFC on Fuel TV 3 will take place on May 15, 2012 at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia.
Tavares has not been in action since last July when he suffered his first pro-loss, a decision loss to Aaron Simpson at UFC 132. Tavares had been scheduled to meet Tim Credeur at UFC 137 but eventually both fighters were pulled due to injuries. The TUF 11 competitor is 2-1 in the UFC, having stopped Phil Baroni at UFC 125 and earned a decision over Seth Baczynski at the TUF 11 Finale.
Yang may be facing dismissal from the UFC with another loss as his record stands at 1-2 in the Octagon. His last fight saw him lose to Court McGee at UFC 125 via unanimous decision. Yang earned a win over Rob Kimmons via second round TKO at UFC on Versus 3 and suffered his first loss, his debut bout at UFC 121, to Chris Camozzi via split decision.
