UFC light heavyweight Brandon “The Truth” Vera (11-6) was released by the Ultimate Fighting Championship following his third straight loss at UFC 125. Vera was handed his walking papers after a unanimous decision loss to Thiago Silva at the Jan. 1st event.
Now it appears that “The Truth” has been brought back to the promotion according to reports from FiveOuncesOfPain.com and MMAjunkie.com. The reason being that Silva’s post fight drug test is still under scrutiny by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, and the loss to Vera is expected be changed to a “No Contest.”
No word has been released by the UFC on Vera’s return but one should be expected once the result of the fight is changed to a “No Contest.”
Vera has been sitting out a medical suspension for a nasal fracture till July 1 unless cleared by a physician and must serve until March 3.
Barring the outcome of the Silva fight, “The Truth” is still on a two fight losing skid having been defeated by Jon Jones via TKO at UFC on Versus 1, and by Randy Couture via unanimous decision at UFC 105. His last win was at UFC 102 where he earned a unanimous decision over Krzysztof Soszynski.
