Brazilian judge bans kids under 14 from UFC 190 event

Kids won’t be allowed inside the HSBC Arena for the biggest UFC Brazil card of the year.

Pedro Henrique Alves, a judge from the Rio de Janeiro children, youth and the elderly court, has decided on Friday that children under 14 years old can’t enter the arena to watch Ronda Rousey defend her UFC bantamweight title against Bethe Correia on Saturday night.

In March, when Demian Maia headlined a UFC Fight Night card in Rio de Janeiro against Ryan LaFlare, the same court allowed under 16 kids to enter the Maracanazinho gymnasium when accompanied by their parents, but the scenario changed for UFC 190. The reasons behind the decision are not available online.

The UFC released a statement Saturday on its Brazilian website, saying the promotion “regrets the decision and agrees to refund the amount paid for the tickets of those who can’t enter the event due to this new determination.”

UFC 190 takes place at the HSBC Arena and features 13 fights, including two TUF Brazil 4 finals, and airs live and free on Globo in Brazil.
